Vive Gun Mount for Onward

Based on original design by gwinntanamo. Just to be clear, it's gwinntanamo's video shown here, not mine. The images are of my gun mount. I made an improved Vive_Gun_Mount_Top (v2). The radius at the inside base of the clips is bigger. These ones should last for ages. You do hear the support snapping a little the first time you snap the pipe in, don't worry about it. It's the perimeters that have the strength. Print in ABS. It is suggested that the squash ball makes contact with the HMD, but for most Onward guns the contact point ends up being on your cheek or jaw. Test a few guns before you decide on a final length for your dowel. Mine is 55cm, 60cm might be better. Designed for a 16mm oak dowel from Bunnings. Put an end cap on the butt end to protect the squash ball. Other parts: 2x 18-20mm M3 bolt 2x M3 Nyloc nut 1x Squash ball https://www.bunnings.com.au/porta-16mm-1-2m-tasmanian-oak-dowel_p0099409https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u60bpVQV-AE I'll leave Improvement1.stl here in case someone wants a clip that's really easy to snap on and off. It holds the weight of the controller as long as you keep the rod still. Eventually I'd like to make clips for different rod diameters and find a design that works well in PLA. Let me know if you modify these for a different diameter rod and don't mind me posting the stl files here, otherwise do a remix so people can find them easily. Print Settings Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 40% Notes: Print the top part with 4 perimeters 0.55mm wide. This will make sure there's no infill in the arms and minimize gaps to get the best strength. The rest I printed with 3 perimeters set to auto width.
