UPDATE:21.06_2021 Added "TrackStraps" Adapter Plate for the Everlast You can find it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4888848

UPDATE:13.03_2021 Added Pogo pin versions if you dont want to use an external USB cable.

There are new trackers coming from Vive with 75% more battery capacity and smaller, but I am not willing to give up on my 2nd generation Vive trackers already.

Surely a charge does not last much longer then 4 hours by now ( after extensive use for 2 years) So I decided to come up with a nice looking Battery add on for it.

I present you the "EVERLAST" external battery System. with an additional 1800mAH battery the trackers now outlast my Index controllers, no more charging breaks in VRCHAT just keep going and dancing and performing! ;)

Lasting at least 12HOURS in one go!!!!

This is a bigger mod including a lot of steps, so nothing for the fainthearted among you ;)

You have two possibilities here:
1.) USB cable Version with a visible cable running from the base to the tracker, its less work but there is always a slight chance of ripping out the cable if you get stuck at something.

2.) Pogo Pin version, involves more work but results in a cleaner build with no external cable.

For the Pogo pin version you need a 1,5mm² copper wire as a contact point so the spring loaded pins of your Vive tracker can make contact to it. Bend the wire in a very narrow U shape and push it through the holes, you maybe need to drill the holes with a 1,5mm drill bit to make it pass through smoothly, take a key file and file down the u bend to have a flat contact surface. (see pictures)

What you need:

Soldering equipment, thin wire. isolation tape, super glue.1,5mm²coper wire.

Lipo Charging board with protection:

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4001046570639.html

Voltage step up converter: ( SET VOLTAGE TO 5 VOLTS or your going to fry your tracker!!)
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005002849228099.html

Battery: Any lipo battery not exceeding 32x62x8mm
There are two "Base" versions one for a slightly smaller 1750mAH lipo battery and slightly bigger one with 1800mAH. you can always go for a smaller one that fits into the cavity.

M4 brass thread inserts:

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/33008141694.html

Heat sink (not a must but a nice to have add on) for the charging board:

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32838291524.html

To mount the Tracker on the Everlast base you need 3 pieces of the S07 screws you can find in the following link:
(Thanks to user AnnabellaRenee for the tip)

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/33026272553.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6a334c4dU34ntk

3x angled usb C cables: ( not needed if you go for the Pogo pin approach)

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07DBW9YLK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

4x M4x6 screw

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg8YeqJirTs"></oembed>

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBhSXiRCNRk"></oembed>
