<p>DISCLAIMER!!! this is potentially a dangerous or even deadly part to 3d print and use, someone rightfully pointed this out to me. So if you print this file you are taking full responsibility for whatever happens due to usage of this part.</p> <p>i lost my golf mk3's ?rubber? engine compartment gear globe due to my car's old age... so my shifter had a lot of play.. when i say a lot i mean like 8 cm before i even felt resistance.</p> <p>EDIT: apparently it's called "Deflection Shaft, gearshift mechanism ball" or in german "Kugel der Umlenkwelle vom Schaltgestänge"</p> <p>I searched everywhere for a replacement part, couldn't find it, and then i realized... i have a 3D printer and ABS filament is a thing.</p> <p>So here it is, the engine compartment gear globe replacement. Made it in 3 sizes, loose fit, good fit and super tight fit. Pick one, print twice and use 2 decent cable ties to hold it in place, and enjoy high accuracy shifting like the car is new again.</p> <p>I can confirm that this works for golf mk3 and polo mk3 with 1.6 cylinder engines.</p> <p>DON'T PRINT THIS IN PLA, IT WILL MELT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.. Trust me.. i know.</p> <p>I printed this in ABS @ 0,3 layer height, without a heated bed, with an e3dLite hot end @ 235degrees centigrade. I used decent 2 sided adhesion tape to get it to stick to the build plate... took me 3 tries to get it right, your mileage may vary.</p> <p>Because this is such a critical component in your car, i tested this for over a year before publishing this thing...and it still works (your mileage may vary, print at your own risk).. i shall try to post pictures soonish.</p> <p>If someone knows the right name for this part, pls tell me so i can update the filename.
