Wacky Woodpecker

Wacky Woodpecker

thingiverse

This animated woodpecker toy uses a little bit of physics to create a lot of fun. Created by Jason Bakutis Instructions This project requires only 3 additional items: 1.) 1 23/64" x 1-3/8" Compression spring (but I'm sure others would work as well) 2.) 1 18" length of 3.25mm metal rod ( I used what appears to be copper-coated welding rod that was lying around the shop, the diameter of the rod is important to the functioning of the toy, since friction plays a key role). 3.) A little super glue to hold the spring in place. Keep in mind that WEIGHT also plays a role, so if you try to scale the bird up or down, it might mean also changing the type of spring you need. Ok, let's see those derivatives! Enjoy! -Jason
