Waffle

Have you ever wanted to 3D print a waffle, but were unable to find an anatomically correct model? It's happened to all of us! I was completely dissatisfied with this, and set out to create my own waffle model. Behold! Six inches in diameter, with 64 cavities for butter and syrup, and a 1/4" thickness connecting sections, this waffle has been optimized for 3D printing. A perfect 15° draft for internal features ensures this waffle would NEVER get stuck in the waffle maker! Future versions may include a 4x4 grid of syrup wells, slightly inset and radiused top-walls, and perhaps a simulated ring of flash where the parting line would be. I intentionally left out the flash in this model to allow for printing without supports, but if people want it, I can work it into the revision. Instructions Because of the very large surface area to volume ratio of this model, you should try to print with as few perimeters as you feel comfortable with. And because of the closeness of the walls, you can get away with a very low infill amount, I used 5% on my test run. I don't think you should try printing without any infill, as the surface of the bottom of the top syrup-wells would require a lot of long bridging. Currently prints 6" in diameter, but could dramatically be reduced or enlarged in size. No support necessary! Current longest overhang is about .57", most printers should be able to handle this in stride.
