7/7/09: Uploaded new test block files. Just realized I uploaded them as one piece. This should now properly let you test screw tolerance as well as how well it holds up to tightening the screw. Also now set to final. Leave a comment if you still think adjustments are needed. EDIT 3: Uploaded a test block STL to allow for testing of screw tolerances before printing the full set. EDIT 2: I have uploaded UNTESTED models to allow for joining the mount and stand with M4 screws. Hole depth on the stand is 20mm. Hole depth on the mount is 5mm. So M4x18 should be the safest. These are designed such that the holes in the stand are 3.9mm to allow the M4 threads to self tap into the plastic. The screw should just slide through the holes in the wall mount. Your choice of flat for cap head screws or countersunk for counter sunk flat heads. Use caution when tightening. Over-tightening may cause stripped holes or cracked plastic. EDIT: Switched to a work in progress. Had some requests to make the parts connectable with M4 screws so I am working on that now. If you want that, don't print the stand or this part yet. I will upload a modified version of both to this page when I'm finished. For those who are fine with a bond via glue and/or tape I'm leaving the original up. Designed a wall mount/shelf using the footprint of charging stand by kni8_2k. You attach the two together with superglue. The pictured print is actually held together with double sided carpet tape. Holds together pretty well but for extra security I'd use a couple dots of super glue. This way the halves might be separated easier in order to replace a USB cable without requiring a full reprint. Still: MAKE SURE THE USB CONNECTORS ARE WELL SEATED BEFORE GLUING There's a chance that the bond can still be permanent. I see no other way to join the parts and maintain print-ability. I'm open to suggestions. The cords can be routed down behind the mount through the groove in the back. The bracket is to be secured to the wall with screw in drywall anchors. Given the lightness of the controllers and the prints, I am confident this is secure. Just don't go leaning on it. Use of magnetic connectors should mean just placing them in the stand is all you need. Maybe support with your hand if you use the stock cables.
