Update: Mountable Backplate Update 2: I made a video case-study on this: https://youtu.be/7J0Io8hQXFM I have modified the backplate to be a little taller, and include two counter-sunk screw holes to allow mounting to a wall. My final print which seemed to work well mounted was using PETG at 50% infill with a triangle pattern. I still support the base with my hand when I'm crushing a can, and I might design a bracket which mounts below to help bear the forces acting to tear the base apart, but it seems to be holding together quite well. Modifications to the bottom were started in OpenSCAD, where I made the unit taller and added the needed teeth for the extra height. Then I imported the STL into TINKERCAD (https://www.tinkercad.com/things/lXgs998Hl87) to create the mounting holes because I couldn't be bothered to figure out how to create counter-sunk screw holes in code. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Original post: I have modified the handles for ease of printing and less filament consumption by eliminating the need for support material. The first change I made was to split the handle into two pieces so that it will print more flat against the bed. I added a 1/2 inch diameter (12.7mm) x 70mm cylinder which runs the through the grip so I can hold the halves together with a wooden dowel. The second change I made was for the handle thickness. There is a bit more thickness in the original that I wanted to remove so that the handles could print totally flat against the bed and eliminate the need for support material in the gear construction. In my first version, I found that I had a layer flaking off the gear where the support interfaced with the finished object. I eliminated this issue by removing some thickness from the handle. I also created and printed a "handle test" piece to ensure that my print would fit nicely over the dowel. Original files that I used included with the modified files.
