Wall of Fire (40mm wide x 25mm high x 10mm deep/thick)

<p>I liked the look of this wall of fire from thingiverse, but wanted to remix for the tabletop board game Raptor <a href="https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/177639/raptor">https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/177639/raptor</a>, which needs 40mm wide-sized pieces. I also wanted to give a solid base, so I created a 1mm board at the bottom and then added the resized/cut fire from the source.</p><p>When I printed, I added filament changes to simulate the different heats of the fire. On the final prints, I actually tried to gradient the layers by doing 1 orange, 1 red, 1 orange, 2 red, 1 orange, 3 red, and so on. It looks great at arm's length/table distance, but you can see the lines if you look close.</p><h3>Post-Printing</h3><p><strong>Flame treated</strong></p><p>I used a kitchen torch to eliminate some stringing between the flames. This actually softened the layer lines and made it more shiny, improving the "fireness" of the print, in my mind. It also helped blend the layer color changes a little, too.</p><h3>How I Designed This</h3><p><strong>Adding via Tinkercad</strong></p><p>I liked the look of this wall of fire, but wanted to remix for the tabletop board game Raptor, which needs 40mm-sized pieces. I started by importing the base fire from Thingiverse to Tinkercad. I resized where I thought would make sense for the scale i needed (10mm deep x 40mm wide x 25mm tall). I also wanted to give a solid base, so I took the truncated die model from tinkercad (as it had "chamfered edges") and cut off the top and resized to 40x10. I made only a couple mm high (which was lower in the corners, but kept the stiff corners for placement and orientation reasons). I then combined and exported and printed.</p>
