From the catalogue description: The object is a polished walrus tusk, engraved by hand with an image of a three-masted ship-of-line, flying the British flag, “hove-to” with its anchor down, near a pier. On the pier are two groups with six people in each group, chained together in a line. To one side of each group is a person yielding a whip.
