Wanhao D6 Right Side Spool Mount - Remix

thingiverse

This is a remix of a remix. Aero3D originally remixed the MakerBot Replicator side spool holder designed by SORE THUMB (the_mighty_sparrow) to fit the Wanhao Duplicator 6. It's a great design but to fit my work area, I needed it to work on the right-hand side of the printer. Also, because I have side panels fitted, I needed it to be a bit more stable. It's a simple remix. I've widened the mount points and create a block on the outside 'leg' that sits just above the side panels. For extra rigidity, I have also removed the stub axles and created a mount point for a full axle. Two axle sizes are included, based on the hub sizes on the filament spools currently on my shelf. The 'fat' one is for spools with holes of at least 50mm and the 'thin' axle for spools with a max of 32mm. I've tried to align the STLs so they fit on the print bed but you may have to move and/or rotate. UPDATE I had a few issues with some (badly rolled) filaments springing over the side of spools during rapid movements so I have added a filament guide around the same mounting system and sized to fit between the two side arms. You may need to pack the outside with a piece of foam (or similar) to lighten the fit against the side of the printer. Print Settings Printer: Wanhao Duplicator 6 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: Medium Infill: 15% Notes: No supports on the brackets. You probably need supports for the fat axle but if you have dual cooling and are printing PLA, the thin axle should print without supports. I used 20% infill for the brackets and 15% for the axles.
