Warping Test

Warping Test

thingiverse

This is a printing test to measure the warping tendency of the print material and printer settings. It's a simple wedge with 60 degree opening angle and 3*80 mm base. The idea is to have a comparatively large cross section pulling on the thin base. Instructions Print the test piece. Stop the print when noticeable warping (object ends lift more than one layer height) is seen. Measure how high the object is. The image shows three tests made using Orbi-Tech's polycarbonate at 300 C, on 110 C Kapton tape bed primed with dilute ABS juice, 0.225 mm layer height and 2.0 W/T setting, Slic3r 0.8.3. The leftmost part was printed with 50 mm/s speed, 4 perimeters and 0.3 fill density. The middle part is the same, but with 25 mm/s speed. The rightmost part is again at 50 mm/s speed, but with 2 perimeters and 0.2 fill density.
