Watchmaker Loupe with Fresnel Lens from Google Cardboard VR Glasses

Ever wondered what to do with Google Cardboard VR Glasses you may have lying around? Look no further. With this print, you can turn the fresnel lenses that you find in Cardboards into an eye loupe.

The model is designed for one 25 mm diameter lens. You can find these fresnel lenses in Google Cardboards and you can buy them for a few cents new (usually in batches of 10 pieces). To build the loupe, print the model and press-fit the fresnel lens on the end with the four small bumps inside.

The model prints in well below one hour (more like 30 minutes) and looks great with fast print settings, too.

This is a very simple model which makes it a great piece for a beginner tutorial to 3d print modeling. I tried some outer diameters and settled on one that both I and my 8 year old daughter can hold without hands. Increasing the outer diameter, eg. by adding a base, makes holding easier for larger people.
