Water Rocket - Student Project

This is a very successful project for young people. It requires: 600ml of water 2L pop bottle Funnel Bicycle Pump Tire Valve (Automotive Trailer Style) 1/4" Dia to 3/8" Dia pole (stick in the ground) Tape - Get strong very sticky plastic box tape - use lots for everything! and some elbow grease! The rockets fly very fast and very far. the internal pressure has been measured between 80PSI and 120 PSI depending on the fit of the valve. When internal pressure overcomes the friction with the valve body the rocket launches. Attach small loops of cardboard securely to the fuselage of the rocket to allow it to be launched from the stick placed in the ground. Check wind speed and watch out for birds overhead. i would estimate the speed of the rocket to be approx 200 Kph. Be careful! Fins are best taped to the outside of the fuselage. Use tape to waterproof the rocket. Nose cones will be damaged on first flight! This is a SUPER FUN project!
