After a posting in GrabCad questions regarding the volume of a fuel tanker, calculating at start and the volume discrepancy in the finished tanker, I have gone over a simple water tank project I designed about about 1998. The original drawings were 2D autocad. I have re-done this project in Alibre Design as a 3D model to show how I go about designing and building this sort of project. Included are all the drawings in pdf format, step files, Solid Works files exported from Alibre Design and Alibre Design package file which is a feature to pack up a whole project into one file that you can easily send to another Alibre Design user. Much simpler than dealing with a complete Solid Works project. With these tank projects I always start by modeling the tank fluid contents, give this part real world properties then build the tank around this.
