Update v4 (20190308): This version includes the addition of two spur gears. One 24 tooth and a 12 tooth. The 24 tooth is driven off the shaft from the impeller, which in turn drives the 12 tooth. Why did I go this direction instead of using a timing belt for motion? I tried driving a belt off of the impeller shaft but it put to much side load on the case and would not spin. Using gears that fit well together actually has little power loss compared to a timing belt. Also the nice thing with the gears is more gears can be added for more speed or to change the direction of travel for the final output. I will have a video out on some of this stuff tomorrow so check out the videos. I am still working on how to actually attach the final drive to a motor so if anyone has any suggestions let me know! This project is finally starting to become interesting. As with all parts the new ones are compatible with the ones that are already uploaded. The 24 tooth gear may need to be glued onto the impeller. I'm working on a 3d printed washer you can use with a 3mm bolt. Stay tuned for that. End of the update 4. Update v3: This version includes a change to the turbine housing and turbine. All V2 parts are compatible with V3 parts. Housing: Turbine housing was changed to add stability to the back side of the generator shaft when loaded with a motor from the front of the generator. New version should actually spin when weight is placed on the front facing output shaft. Housing v2 has been removed due to change. Turbine: I added .5mm discs to both sides of the turbine to aid in keeping the turbine spinning straight against the walls of the housing. V2 has been removed due to change. End of update 3. Update v2: This version works significantly better than V1. The appropriate files end in V2. Housing: The housing entrance has been changed. The water entrance was moved to aid more accurate flow to the blades of the turbine. The housing has also been shaved because having it enclosed wasn't helpful if not hurtful to flow. Exit hole was enlarged. Also added four screw holes on the top section for m2 screws. You can use whatever entrance housing you'd like. Added faucet mount: I've included the faucet mount that I am using for my faucet. Your faucet is most likely different. The housing bolts to the turbine housing via those 2mm screws I just mentioned. The top cover of the top housing uses four 3mm screws. Turbine: The turbine has also been changed. Added a bowl to each blade for better power generation. The shaft was lengthened so both sides are now equal. Both sides can be used for power generation. The bore for the motor shaft has also been enlarged slightly. (I was tired of bending shafts pressing them in) I also tried to add a wall to the outside of the turbine like you see in regular water mills. This only slowed the turbine down so I scrapped that idea. Still working on a horizontal version. Only problem with that is print time / space in the sink. Hardware required for assembly: Three 3mm bolts for housing cover Four 3mm bolts if you decide to use my faucet mount Four 2mm bolts for housing to faucet mount if you End of update 2. V1: Here is a water turbine I’m working on. I’m trying to spin a small dc motor. The dc motor shaft is 2mm. The front generator shaft has a 2mm hole and a hole for a 3mm set screw. Change it how you see fit. Printed on an Ender 3. Print time is a good 5 hours for all parts at 1.5.
