Wavebird Receiver Stabilizer

Wavebird Receiver Stabilizer

I am one of maybe three people on the planet that still uses a Wii, and my favorite controller is my trusty Wavebird. When Nintendo designed the Wavebird controller, its receiver was designed to fit flush with the front of the Gamecube. But when connected to the Wii, it sticks out quite a bit. This has always worried me, because tossing the Wii in my bag (I take it to friends' houses a lot) could break the controller port or part of the receiver when being jostled around in the bag. I wanted to create something that keeps that vulnerable Wavebird receiver from getting knocked around without needing to remove it. And this Thing does just that! It slips over the back side of the receiver, held on with a friction fit, and creates a flush connection between it and the side of the Wii. Simple as that, really! I designed it to be as stable as possible while still allowing another Wavebird receiver to be put in an adjacent port. For best results, put a piece of rubber tape along the section that will come in contact with the top of the Wii. This provides a lot of grip, and it also places a bit of tension on the rest of the bracket, both of which help to minimize movement. Enjoy!
