GERMAN: Der laute Mini-Lüfter in dem WD-NAS hat mich immer genervt. Zudem hat er die Festplatten grade so bei 10000 RPM bei 55-60 Grad Celsius halten können. Ich habe eine Halterung konstruiert, in der ein 80mm-Lüfter angebracht wird. Die Halterung wird dann von unten an das NAS geschraubt (M3-Schrauben und Muttern notwendig). Damit die originale Lüftersteuerung erhalten bleibt, wird der Lüfter an den originalen Lüfteranschluss angeschlossen. Dazu muss im Boden bspw. mit einer Zange ein kleines Stück Plastik entfernt werden um den Stecker und das Kabel nach oben hinter die Frontabdeckung zu führen. im 3D-Modell habe ich an entsprechender Stelle vorne ein Loch eingefügt. Verwendet habe ich folgenden Lüfter: ARCTIC P8 (NICHT Silent, NICHT PWM, NICHT TC) Die Festplatten bleiben nun zwischen 50 und 55 Grad Celsius, der Lüfter dreht sehr langsam und fast nicht hörbar. Verwendet NICHT den Silent-Lüfter von Arctic oder einen Noctua. Die funktionierten zwar auch, haben aber einen Niedrigeren Luftdurchsatz und laufen deshalb auf voller Geschwindigkeit, was sie wieder hörbar macht. Der von mir vorgeschlagene Lüfter läuft obwohl er bis zu 3000 RPM kann nur max 1800 RPM und ist daher so leise. ENGLISH: The loud mini-fan in the WD-NAS has always annoyed me. It also kept the hard drives at 10000 RPM at 55-60 degrees Celsius. I have constructed a bracket in which an 80mm fan is mounted. The bracket is then screwed to the NAS from below (M3 screws and nuts necessary). To keep the original fan control, the fan is connected to the original fan connector. To do this, a small piece of plastic must be removed from the bottom, e.g. with pliers, in order to guide the plug and the cable upwards behind the front cover. In the 3D model, I have inserted a hole in the front at the appropriate place. I used the following fan: ARCTIC P8 (NOT Silent, NOT PWM, NOT TC) The hard drives now stay between 50 and 55 degrees Celsius, the fan turns very slowly and almost inaudible. Do NOT use the silent fan from Arctic or a Noctua. They worked as well, but have a lower airflow and therefore run at full speed, which makes them audible again. The fan I suggested although it can run up to 3000 RPM only runs max 1800 RPM and that is why it is so quiet.
