NBD Atmospheric Water Generator by David Wrenn PRODUCT PURPOSE: Water collection and generation for water deprived areas. DESIGN CONCEPT: Water will condensate on the surface of a NDB coated weather balloon that is anchored hundreds of feet in the air. The water that condenses will travel down the sides of the balloon until it reaches the bottom of the balloon. At that point the water is directed by a funnel like device into a tube. The condensed water then travels down the tube where it eventually ends up in a large water collecting drum at ground level. The tube not only transports the water but also acts as a tether to anchor the NBD coated weather balloon in the sky. DESIGN BENEFITS: This design utilizes mainly pre-existing products with the addition of NBD’s new technology to capture water. This means that production cost is kept low so more funds can be spent on researching and testing efficiency. Collecting water in the cloud layer means increased wind flow, higher relative humidity, and a COLDER environment. (therefore the rate at which water condensates is higher) Set up and use is kept easy with a simple design. In areas where the cloud layer is present but not enough to produce rain this product would be beneficial. POSSIBLE DESIGN CHANGES: If a weather balloon does not provide the proper structure/shape or rigidity necessary for the NBD coating then perhaps there could be an internal structure like a blimp.
