Webcam Mount for Monitor Stand

A simple webcam mount for my monitor stand. I have a monitor stand like [this](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018MSDG84), and I noticed that there is a bit of the vertical support tube that extend above the monitor arms. I designed this to fit snugly over that vertical tube. For my monitor stand, the center tube diameter is ~1.4" (35.5mm). The height of this part is ~8", which is a good amount for my 26" screens. The ball and socket joint is remixed from the one by Gyrobot. I scaled it up a bit to accommodate the mounting bolt for the webcam. In addition to the two printed parts, you will need a 1" long 1/4-20 socket head cap screw like [this](https://www.mcmaster.com/92196a542). The screw fits inside the ball, and attaches to the threaded hole on my Logitech C920 webcam. This same threaded hole is used for a lot of camera tripod mounts. I also included a feature that would allow for screws to be installed in two of the fingers of the ball holder. This would let you lock the ball once you had the camera positioned how you wanted it. The holes are sized for #4-40 heat set inserts like [these](https://www.mcmaster.com/93365a120). Install those inserts, and then use #4-40 screws to lock the ball. The screws would need to be at least .3" long, something like [this](https://www.mcmaster.com/91746a020) or [this](https://www.mcmaster.com/90291a108) would probably work well. This feature did not prove necessary. There is enough friction between the two parts to hold the webcam without locking the ball. If you plan to use a very large/heavy camera, this feature may be useful.
