I started this project trying to find a better way to measure the temperature of my Pizza oven than constantly having to open the front hatch and pointing an infrared laser at the stone.

The following parts are used:

Wemos D1 / ESP8266 / WROOM-02 / 18650 board (similar to https://www.ebay.com/itm/384750286779 , you will find many variants of this board)

MAX6675 SPI Temperature sensor board + k-type thermocouple (https://www.ebay.com/itm/153786185405 - again a whole lot of similar options)

an 18650 cell from an old laptop battery

3x M2 threaded inserts + some random screws I had laying around for mounting the Wemos Board. Notice that one of the corners doesn't have a screw hole, since the SMD components on the underside of my specific board would be too close and therefore I used that little, printed peg instead.

1x M3 threaded insert + another random screw for mounting the MAX6675 board

female-to-female jumper cables that came with the MAX6675 board for connecting it to the D1

I flashed ESPhome to the board and report the temperature back to HomeAssistant for now. You can find the esphome-config on my GitHub page if you're interested: https://github.com/grubFX/esphome-configs/blob/master/src/wemos18650-max6675.yml
