Wemos ESP8266 with DS18B20 sensor enclosure
thingiverse
Hi friends! Here's the story behind this design: ESP8266 (Wemos) devices are awesome little tools in the IoT world. I decided to use them to track and control temperature readings throughout my entire house. So, ESP8266 collects temperature data, which is then sent to a hub via Wi-Fi - a Raspberry Pi 3 model, to be exact. I utilize a clever technology called Fil pilote to activate or deactivate heaters in each room as needed. Everything works smoothly, but I realized that I needed a custom enclosure to house the ESP8266 (Wemos) and temperature sensor: DS18B20. There are plenty of designs available on Thingiverse, but most don't meet my specific requirements: Even though my ESP8266 is in deep sleep mode for most of the time, it's essential to keep it isolated from the temperature sensor to prevent interference. This design addresses this issue perfectly because: - The ESP8266 is carefully separated from the sensor and positioned above it, ensuring that even minimal heat generated won't interfere. - The sensor is situated below and features excellent airflow. And there you have it! I'd like to extend a special thank you to Le Bear CNC for their fantastic Fusion 360 tutorials - they've been incredibly helpful!
