This area of carved outcrop can be found towards the edge of a mature, privately owned plantation, near West Horton in Northumberland. Referenced in the Beckensall Archive as ‘West Horton 2a’, this carving was recorded by Northumberland and Durham Rock Art Project (NADRAP) in 2006, and added to ERA in 2008. Motifs consist of a busy design of cups, cups with partial rings and grooves. All are fairly deeply carved, which may suggest the stone has been covered for much of its life. ERA Record: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=63 Despite not being scheduled, this carving is listed on Northumberland County Council’s HER: http://www.keystothepast.info/article/10339/Site-Details?PRN=N3897 Model created from 3 stereo pairs, captured using a 5mp Nikon Coolpix 5400 by Joe Gibson on 6th March 2007. The imagery forms part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
