The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is a species of elasmobranch; being the largest existing fish in the world, with approximately 12 m in length. It presents a feeding by filtration. It lives in warm tropical and subtropical waters. It has been suggested that it inhabits the Earth for 60 million years.
