A simple wind direction sensor that I designed for my weather station project, which also was my diploma work. It is based on a rotary hall angle sensor: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000170678550.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dW2oHTn It needs a 5V supply, and provides a 0-5V voltage level on the output according to how much it is rotated. You can simply use analogRead() with an Arduino to read this and calculate the wind direction in degrees with the map() function. The original screws of the angle sensor can be used. I also put a big screw nut on the front of the top part to balance it, but it is not really that necessary. The parts may fit too tight, I used sandpaper to fix it.
