Wire Brace for Replicator 2 Jitter
thingiverse
My Replicator 2 started malfunctioning and shifting layers along the X axis unexpectedly. It appears that I've got a faulty ribbon cable leading to the X axis motor that's causing intermittent issues. By straightening out the kinked wire, I can temporarily get things running while I source a new cable for permanent repair. The troubleshooting steps are straightforward: Unscrew the six hex bolts on the right side panel. Remove the pin securing two ribbon cables to the X axis motor and stop unit. I find that the bending occurs near where the cable is held tightly at the back of my Replicator. Carefully slide the cable out of its slot, flatten the kink, and place a support brace over the problem area. Leave the cable temporarily outside of the slot for now. Luckily, this procedure puts me back online again until I can get that new cable.
