Wooden Arrow Necklace and Earrings

Wooden Arrow Necklace and Earrings

My inspiration for this jewelry set came from a fine jewelry set with a silver pendant and chain. I was struck by the curved arrow shape of the pendant which I incorporated in my design. Instead of cutting out a web of geometric shapes as in the original pendant, I rastered a geometric pattern on the pendant instead. For the earrings, I used the shape of the cutout in the center of the necklace pendant and simply added a cut out at the top to attach to the ear wire. I created the design in Illustrator and printed it using a laser engraver. Instructions The necklace pendant and earrings were laser cut from a 3mm wood board with vector settings: speed 30, power 100, frequency 500 Hz on a 40 watt Epilog Engraver and rastered at 60% speed and 100% power. I coated all of the wooden pieces with 2-3 layers of a protective polyurethane coating. I colored several of the triangles blue with a pen and added another coating of the polyurethane to prevent the color from smudging. I used hemp cord to tie onto the pendant, added a few beads as accents, and finally added a lobster claw clasp. The earrings were linked to the fish hook ear wire with a jump ring as well.
