Wooden Post Cap

Wooden Post Cap

thingiverse

This is just a humble cap with 45-degree roof to place upon vertically-oriented wooden posts (e.g. used to frame a treated-lumber retaining wall) to keep water from settling upon the top post ends and rotting them out over time. Decorative post caps may be purchased, but printing these should be much less expensive if you have a lot of posts. I have printed a prototype from PLA, and it works well so far. I recommend using a material that can handle the elements and UV... PETG seems like a fine choice. I will be using PETG myself for the several posts I have to protect on my property. This design is for a post that is 5.5in x 5.5in. You may scale the STL or modify the Fusion 360 file I've provided. I hope this is useful to some people out there.
