Woodturning - Rotary Bowl Sander Marius Hornberger style

<p>Technically this is a remix, but there are not yet printable files available as far as I know. Marius Hornberger (See Youtube) designed a rotary bowl sander to be made from wood. This one had worked very well for me, but I wanted to improve it a bit and mostly downsize it as far as possible, as my wooden version was quite bulky.<br>The original plans can be seen on his website: <a href="https://mariushornberger.com/de/collections/free-stuff">https://mariushornberger.com/de/collections/free-stuff</a></p><p>I designed mine for some flanged igus-bearings because I had them on hand, they now also use a 10 mm shaft. Maybe I will update the design for some more standard 608 rollerskate bearings and 8mm shafts.</p><p>The bearing housing prints flat on the bed, you might want to try and reinforce the area underneath the wingnut as i had to use a very big washer to not crush it while tightening it, even though I used a good amount of infill and perimeters. Also some supports for the lower ledge of the flanged bearing would have been nice in my print.<br>Sanding pad: the front is 47mm wide to fit my interface pads. I glued on the velcro as in the original with concact adhesive after roughing up the glueing surfaces. The prints needs a print pause after the space for the nut is fully printed to insert the nut. I also printed infill first, then perimeters, as the “overhang” over the nut enclosure would not really be printable otherwise.</p><p>For material, PLA seems sufficient.&nbsp;</p><p>In the future I also want to design a vacuum-adapter-handle for the sander as seen here: <a href="https://vicmarc.com/product-page/sanding-and-grinding/swivel-head-sander-detail">https://vicmarc.com/product-page/sanding-and-grinding/swivel-head-sander-detail</a></p><p>If there is demand for other sizes of sanding plates etc. please comment.</p>
