Woolly Mammoth Skull

Woolly Mammoth Skull

thingiverse

This is a replica of a woolly mammoth skull. The model originates from a 3D scan performed by the National Museum of Natural History of a woolly mammoth composite skeleton that was recovered in Alaska in 1952. It is now part of The Smithsonian X3D Program. Instructions I downloaded the original model (http://3d.si.edu/downloads/55) from the Smithsonian X3D gallery, then used MeshMixer (http://meshmixer.com/) to isolate the skull and perform a plane cut that created a bottom to the skull. Using Tinkerine Suite slicing software, I scaled the skull down and used a medium resolution profile to slice but I'd like to do a finer resolution now. Here's what I used: -2mm layer height, 1.75mm PLA, Tinkerine Ditto Plus, non-heated glass bed, .35 nozzle diameter, 210 deg, 3 walls, 15% rectilinear infill, ext support 45deg. It took about 50 minutes to print.
