Notes: The Rear Wing assembly itself wasn’t all that hard - for the most part it was a rehash of the Front Wing Assembly. Make a random airfoil, stick it to some mounting panels, and there you go. The mounting of the Rear Wing to the frame was the hard part. I ended up making some split brackets and bolting them onto the rear wing and then I modified the Suspension Rod Assy from HW#6 and used that to support the wing. In order to attach the wing to the frame, I attempted to minimize the number of angles I had to deal with so I used synchronous modeling to modify the frame and added some tabs so that I had two rods going from the rectangular bars by the engine to the rear wing and two more rods going from the vertical bar (which I lengthened using synchronous modeling) to the rear wing. The vertical-bar-rods were like .0001” off from the exact dimension, so I ended up using a distance constraint between the two central axes and setting it at .0001”, which I think is good enough but if you want to mess with it, be my guest.Body Panel Edits: So I went for the whole zip tie thing. It took me forever and was not all that pleasant, but by the time I started to regret it I was too far in to turn back. So I basically just put holes in the body panels and then put rings through those holes. Constraining the rings was a pain and I ended up using a bunch of distance constraints which I’m not sure is how they want us doing it but it was the only way I could get it to work so I did it. If you guys don’t like it, this was one of those things that took three hours to do but will take five minutes to undo so just let me know and I’ll go through and undo my three hours of agonizing work. (Seriously - I don’t mind if you think it is terrible, I honestly have mixed feelings so it won’t bother me.)Drawings: I completed the drawings and material assignments for all of the sub-assemblies used for the aero-package:Front Wing AssemblyRear Wing AssemblyRear Wing Mounting Rod 1 AssemblyRear Wing Mounting Rod 2 AssemblySmall side note: There are superfluous parts that are kind of just floating in the folder but aren't actually used for anything. Ignore those. Or delete them. Whatever floats your boat.
