A couple of years ago a friend introduced me to fantasy cosplay, and the gatherings in at Haarzuilen en Arken in the Netherlands. Now, if you think cosplay is stupid... move along... look at another of the many wonderful designs on this site, 'cause tthis is Thing is going to drive the geekiness needle of the scale. Having played World of Warcraft quite a bit, i came to love the Warlock class. So i came up with the idea of cosplaying a Warlock at one of the comming events. But what's a Warlock without a demon? Right: naked... Of all the demons a warlock can summon in WoW, i think the Imp is the coolest. But no costume could ever approach the looks of a WoW Imp, it's just physically impossible. So: why not build a Robot-Imp? I've been running around with the idea quite a while now, but what pushed me over the edge is discovering the videos (and website) of James Bruton from XRobots (check out his website: http://xrobots.co.uk/). I'm starting this project at about the same time as he is starting work on his 'Ultron' android. Since the Imp and James' Ultron share a lot of design goals, i'm sure i'll be learning a lot from his videos. Obviously this project is going to be in the 'WIP' state for a long time to come. And doesn't involve just printed parts but a good deal of electronics and mechanics as well. Never the less, i am already putting completed parts up here. Both to have a central repository of them, and... i would LOVE to hear your ideas! So don't hesitate to comment. 2019-12-15: Printed scalemodel of the Imp from exported 3D Object from WoW library files. To use it as a reference for further designing the skeleton to mount electromechanic components onto and for a later phase, support the simili-leather skin. 2019-7-20: added 'Sphenoid : mountsystem for cranial electronics (1x rPi2, 2x rPi0) 2019-6-7: added Shoulder connector (ClaviNode) 2019-5-18: New casing for Pine64 Clusterboard 2019-4-17: 2 Pine64, 2 Raspberry Pi 2 Raspberry Pi Zero brain thrown out. replaced by Pine64 Clusterboard 2018-12-04: updated brainv2 with more room for flat-cables and thicker walls for sturdiness 2018-12-03: Finally assembled the brain. And it is starting to look like an actual brain+spinalcord. But tension on the frame is high, the flatcables use up more space then i had anticipated. So brain_v2 is going to get updated (again) 2018-12-02: Moved mountpoints of the Raspberry Pi Zeros to the front of the brain unit to accomodate the shortness of the datacables of the RasPi spy cameras. 2018-11-14: Added cameraMounts. for miniRasPiZero camera, Neopixel Ring (16) and 6 IR LEDs. 2018-04-12: Added casing for the mainboard, switch and relayboard. 2018-03-28: Added link to motherboard. hosted on PCBWay, you can download there or order it from them. 2018-11-14: added Cameramounts for the eyes, using small Raspberry Pi Zero cameras and Neopixel rings 16. 2018-08-28: replaced brain v2, this one is actually working so far 2018-04-24: Added brain v2, the old brain casing proved too large and impractical. 2017-11-17: Added shoulderJoint 2017-11-01: cleaned up designs, updated cluster rack to latest rendition. 2017-10-04: Added cluster rack for all the Microcomputers 2017-08-28: added chest 2017-06-08: designed a new skull, replaces brain and cranial 2017-03-29: updated brain 2016-07-21: Added Hip part updated vertebra part 2016-07-20: Added Vertebra part 2016-01-07: Added .fzz files containing electronics designs for the Imp. They can be opened with Fritzing. 2016-07-10: Added .scad and .stl for the backbone's vertebra. It is made to slide over a clear plastic tube like the ones used in Aquaria. adjust parameter tubeD at the top of the .scad file to adjust for the tubing you have. 2017-01-24: added brain casing 2017-02-25: changed Computing BOM to -Beaglebone, -Yun, +Pine64 Print Settings Printer: Creality CR3040 Notes: Secondary 3D printers: Snapmaker v1 Anet A8+ Anet E16 Creality CR10v2 Bill Of Materials Electronics 5x Pine A64 SoPINE 1x Pine A64 Clusterboard 1x Raspberry Pi 2B+ 1x Huawei GPRS USB module 1x Edimax USB Wireless Ethernet module 2x Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3+ 2x RasPi Camera NoIR (mini) 2x Raspberry Pi Zero Camera Cable 2x [Ethernet Hub and USB Hub w/ Micro USB OTG Connector] (https://www.adafruit.com/products/2992) 2x Mini Portable USB Flexible Stereo Desktop Microphone 1x Mini Portable Speaker 1x Ethernet Switch (8ports) 1x Relay board 10A 5V (8 ports) ?x LM2596S DC2DC converters (12V to 5V) ?x INA219b based I2C Voltage Meter ?x BTS7960 Motor drivers 14x Microduino Core+ 14x Microduino RS485 modules 14x Linear actuators (12V, 20mm/s, 10cm stroke) 4x NEMA17 stepper motors 21x MG99S MEtal gear high torque servo motors 5x PCA9685 based 16channel 12bit PWM I2C controllers Schematic
