In simpler times the household desk as we know it was not common. Letters, papers, records, were minimal and were usually kept in a box. By the middle of the 19th century the laptop box required its own special use table for the box. The desk shown here was the combination of the table and box into a Writing desk. This is a mid 1800'sof Country Hepplewhite flavor.
