Wyze Doorbell Cam Wall Outlet Cover

I needed a doorbell cam so I went with Wyze because I use those for my pet cams. It turns out that the one I bought is not designed to replace a doorbell mounted on a wall plate, it's just supposed to be screwed right into the wall. Since I have stucco that's not an option plus it would leave a bloody big hole next to my door. I guess I could have bought a blank wall plate and just drilled the screw holes that I needed. But were is the fun in that? I have a 3d printer for this exact reason! So I whipped up a quick outlet cover with screw holes for the camera mount. It took about 10 minutes for the initial design then about 2 hours to print with my settings. After the first print, where I took the measurements from some online blueprints for the wall plate, I found out that I have large outlet covers, not standard size ones. So, a quick redesign where I actually measured the plate it's replacing and 2 more hours I have an almost winner. I'm putting both sizes in the downloads. The standard is 4.5 inches that large is 4.75 inches. You can see in my photos that the wedge sits slightly off the plate surface. My outlet cover has rounded heads so I'll run up to the hardware store for some flat head ones. That should allow the wedge to sit flush with the plate. The holes for the screws are slightly too small. This allows the wedge to get pulled tight against the plate. Be careful if you are using a drill to drive the screws. You will crack the plate. One, main issue. These are designed to use the wedge that comes with the camera, so the holes will not line up if you just use the regular mounting plate. When installing the wall outlet cover needs to be attached first, then the wedge because it slightly covers the screws needed to attach the outlet cover to the wall. Next you screw in the wedge, then the camera mount, finally the camera. I used eSun white PLA. I don't know how this will hold up over time in the hot Florida weather but I don't have any white PLA. When I get some I will probably reprint the plate in that. I don't know if this will work on any other types of camera, ring, etc... but I guess it doesn't hurt to give it a try?
