Update 08-02-2021: I've used the Ender 3 Pro Roller Cover/Cable Chain Mount by silvr21 to make V3. Their Satsana remix has a very tight fit with cut-outs for the Satsana (which I use), so I've remixed their design with the original hot end connection to make an even better piece (and it really is a lot better than v1 and v2).

I've also moved the attachment a bit to the right since my cover sometimes popped off due to the chains being pushed into the side of my Ender 3 Pro.

The new files are called:

x-axis_rollers_cover_with_chain_v3.stl

x-axis_rollers_cover_with_chain_part_b_v3.stl

The .3mf file has been uploaded as well named as x-axis_rollers_cover_with_chain_v3.3mf.

You'll need to reprint Part B as well as I had to change it's design just a bit. It's now an even tighter fit.

Update 03-10-2020: I've used the Ender 3 Pro X-axis Cover with Lip by dafunda to make V2. Their remix has a nice lip, so this should make the cover a lot more sturdy (see the first picture).

You'll need to reprint Part B as well as I had to shorten it a little bit since I changed the placement if the chain attachment.

The new files are named:

X-Axis Cover - Chain attachment + Lip.stl

X-Axis Cover - Chain attachment + Lip - Part B.stl

This time no .3mf files since the Part B one is pretty much the same but made shorter and I forgot to save the .3mf for the actual cover.

To be frank, all I did was take the .stl from dafunda and added the chain attachment from the original .3mf, tested it, tweaked it, tested it again, released it.

I really liked the X-axis rollers cover by FilBer, however, I was using a remixed version of the hot end chain connection by Littlefiver and I couldn't use both at the same time.

To resolve this issue I've remixed the reinforced hot end mount onto the x-axis roller and sliced the connection piece. Now the rollers are covered and I can still attach my chain, making it all look very sleek.

Please leave a make or a comment if you printed this yourself. Thank you!

Printing

Make sure you print both parts it as shown in the screen shots. You will need a decently calibrated machine with well defined acceleration, otherwise the fit will be quite loose.

Part B does not require supports. It's just a boring clip. ;)

Assembly

You'll need a single M3 bolt around 12mm. Longer is possible as you can just screw it through the entire length, but shorter will look nicer.

After that, it's just a matter of attaching the chain to the hook. This will take some force so make sure that you don't break your chain link. The mount should be more than strong enough.

How I Designed This

Imported all the STLs into Microsoft's 3D builder, split things up and just tweak it until it looked decent and worked on my machine.

I've included the 3MF files if someone else wants to perfect this design.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3 Pro

Resolution:

0.16mm

Infill:

40%

Filament: Eryone PLA

Black
Category: 3D Printer Accessories
