X-Lite Pro magnet holder and wind indicator

X-Lite Pro magnet holder and wind indicator

This is a remix of my previous back cover that replaces the external module cover to also include a wind indicator holder to help see wind direction before launching your sailplane. It uses barbecue skewers that you can get cheap at grocery stores. The ones I bought are bamboo and have a diameter of around 2.87mm. I got a pack of 50 for $1. Just get a small piece of mylar and glue it onto the end of the wood skewer with hot glue or tape. It also needs a 3x6 mm round magnet for the magnet holder. This is so that you can store your magnet on the back of the transmitter if you use a magnetic switch to turn your sailplane on. This design also makes use of the clip on the back of the x-lite to help lock it in place... not that it really needed it though in my experience. Make sure to use the notes on the thing this was remixed from for how to print it. There are some specific settings that need to be used. I included a magnet holder tool if you want to use a 3x6 magnet to turn on and off your RC model's magnetic switch. Print it using 0.1 mm layer height. I have included 2 versions. 3x6MagnetTool-open.stl where you just drop the magnet in after the print and glue it in place. This version is tighter to make it easier for it to stay in place. The second version is 3x6MagnetTool-enclosed.stl where you pause the print before right before the top is printed (before layer 38 printing 0.1 mm layers), drop the magnet into the hole, and then resume the print to print the top. There can be differences in printers so if the tolerances are not good for the print and it doesn't want to slide with only slight pressure, then don't force it because you don't want to break the small tabs on the XLite transmitter that hold the cover on. I haven't experienced any issues with it but you should be careful. It is important to use the 0.1 mm Resolution and 0.2 mm support z height. I have not tested this to see if the stick or the 3d print breaks before the tabs on the xlite do if you were to try bending the stick until it breaks. I haven't had any issues with it and bent the stick back pretty far without issue but I haven't bent the stick all the way back to see if it breaks first. I originally thought that the bamboo stick would break or my design would break before anything else but the stick seems to bend quite a bit. 2019-05-28 V6 - 45 degree angle on top so that area doesn't generate support. It looks better after printing even though it doesn't match up with the exact angle on the X-Lite. 2019-05-27 V5 (shown in picture) - Updated to V5 to make the outside tube even thicker. It appears to be strong enough to not split if you push up or down real hard on the stick - Increased inner tube size to better fit the bamboo skewers. 2019-05-27 V4 - Updated to V4 to make the outside tube thicker to help prevent splitting. 2019-05-27 - Added a battery holder tool if you want to use the 3x6 magnet for use to turn on and off your RC model's magnetic switch. 2 versions are included. An open version and an enclosed version meant to be paused and the resumed to enclose the magnet in the print.
