X-MAXX Wheel Reinforcers

Traxxas X-MAXX 8s stock wheels can be used on non-Traxxas vehicles with some small modifications, namely the splines need to be cut away, and the center hole needs to be drilled out to 18mm. Use a metric step drill to ensure the hole remains centered. Use a sharp chisel and a little patience to remove the splines. Unfortunately, this leaves a very shallow hexagonal pocket for the hub to engage. A powerful 1/5 scale car will strip these out, destroying them in minutes, unless measures are taken. This reinforcing ring does this in two ways: it reinforces the hexagonal pocket molded into the wheel, and it provides additional seating surface as well. Print these with heavy infill (I printed mine with 75%), and glue them (gorilla glue or epoxy) into X-MAXX wheels. A big heavy car will still probably beat these wheels to a pulp, but at least the hubs won't strip. Naturally, do any of this at your own risk.
