X-Wing Pilot Chest Box - Snap-Together

X-Wing Pilot Chest Box - Snap-Together

thingiverse

This is a snap-together (OK, OK, & screw-together) replica of the "chest box" for X-Wing pilots from the original Star Wars trilogy. If you look at production stills from the films, you'll notice that this prop in particular is...a little rough. It's pretty clear that it's just a carved hunk of foam with some acrylic squares glued on. I wanted to make something that looked a little crisper/more detailed - the buttons recess a little into the face, the black plate is a separate piece, etc. In short: if you want something screen-accurate, this isn't that. But it looks pretty nice, nonetheless. (You can get closer by painting my handy-dandy guidance grooves with white paint.) It snaps together, minus four #8 screws that hold the back plate on. (I wanted it to be removable to make replacing the straps easier). You can either use plastic thread-forming screws (Type A), plastic thread-cutting screws (Type F), or tap it out yourself (Type I-Own-An-#8-32-Tap). You need: 1 Box 1 Rear Cover 1 Black Inset Plate 2 White Switches 1 Gray Switch 3 White Buttons 2 Blue Buttons 1 Jack 1 Knob
