X-Wing Starfighter

Need I explain? It's a classic. And it got features: ~ Working wings ~ Cockpit fits a Lego minifig ~ Locking canopy that stays closed during sick space loops ~ Rear compartment for R2-D2 or barrel of Alderaan's finest malt whiskey This one's a doozy, 203 lasercut pieces, 241 pieces total. It's about 16 inches long. If you need help, ask, I won't be mad. Update 8/5/2015 - One chassis rib was out of place, this is corrected. Changed the "satellite dishes" on the guntips slightly. Update 8/11/2015 - Added xwing_altgun.svg. Different gun caps, removed 5/16" dowels and skewers from the design. Instructions Files are xwing_1.svg through xwing_6.svg in xwing_svg.zip .dxf files are the same as .svg files Find the correct scale using the square marked ONE INCH in xwing_1.svg Cut one of each file from 1/8" MDF You will need dowels of the following diameters: 3/16" -- 1' 1/4" -- 2' 5/16" -- 2' 1 3/8" -- 1' as well as some shishkebab skewers. You can substitute a 1/8" dowel for the skewers. Cutting and boring info on the first two pages of the instructions UPDATE 8/11/2015 - If you are using xwing_altgun.svg you don't need 5/16" dowels or skewers, and you need 3' of 1/4" dowel) The 1/2" dowels need to be drilled straight down the center, all the way through. This can be tricky. If you don't want to do that this is the next best option:http://www.mcmaster.com/#plastic-hollow-rods/=xheyp7 followed by cutting out several rings and stacking them into a tube For the magnets I used some 1/2"x1/4"x1/16" magnets from K&J Magnetics:https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=B841 R2D2 is left as an exercise to the reader (I threw in some legs to get you started)
