X5SA Filament Runout Switch Housing
thingiverse
This filament runout switch housing for the Tronxy X5SA (and possibly other models) was designed to allow a downward filament inlet while using Bowden tubing and fittings to deliver the filament from the switch to the extruder. Since I plan to use a spool holder above the top 20x20 frame plane, this is necessary. This housing should be much simpler to load than the stock housing that comes with the system. There's a hole in the lid so you can see the LED on the switch PCB. Another rectangular hole in the lid lets you view the filament path, just in case there's some kind of blockage or issue. The switch is mounted inside the housing using two 4mm x 6 or 8mm SHCS screws. The lid is secured with two 3mm x 8mm SHCS screws (these can be a bit shorter). The assembly was intended to be fastened with 4mm hardware and boat nuts. You're free to choose what you like. Note: The Bowden tubing fitting isn't shown in the model, as I couldn't find a suitable one quickly enough. However, I've used the original fitting from the cold-end within this housing. I replaced my old tubing with CapricornXS, and included the fittings.
