To protect my newly acquired xbee and usb carrier board from Sparkfun (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8687), I crafted a custom case using 3mm cool edge glow acrylic for visibility of status lights. The laser-cut design comprises three layers: bottom, middle, and top. Each m3x10 screw requires four washers as spacers. For added durability, you might consider gluing the first, second, and third layers together before assembly.
