Obsolete as of January 2022 - Your X box one console now has a setting called dark mode, among which controls include dimming or turning out the light on the controller and the one on the front panel of the console.

--------------

In the dark, some folks are very sensitive to the super bright light on the Xbox One controller. I have thought about taking the controller apart and modifying the X button, but controllers can be difficult to take apart and reassemble without breaking. So I took a different approach here.

Prints in minutes. Set this onto your Xbox One lighted button with a little bit of adhesive such as double sided tape or glue. Once the adhesive sets up, the light dimmer reduces the light that comes through in the dark, but the lighted button is still visible (as shown). To remove it, pop it off with a knife. I tested removing my PETG light blockers after two days, having used a good plastic glue. Popped right off. For even easier removal, use white glue (but the drying time is several hours for white glue). While that isn't quite snap-on, you want the light block to hang in there after several thousand button push cycles.

Fits Xbox One controllers (tested) and may be fine for other controllers.

I printed mine in PETG, and tried red, green and finally landed on black because it gave the most brightness relief. For easier removal (depends on the adhesive you use), you might want to use PLA which doesn't glue to anything well.

Four of them (as found in the .3mf) print in 5 minutes. Each controller only needs one. Printing 4 at a time helps manage inter-layer heat, as the part is quite thin. You can always use any extras as tiddly winks.

I printed mine at .1mm fine detail resolution just to get more layers. If you want to reduce the amount of light further, just increase the layer thickness. Do not scale, or the button won't depress any more.
