Xbox One Video Game Controller Adapter (Suction Cup Mounting)

Video games allow individuals with disabilities to experience situations that may be difficult or limited in the real world, provide social networking opportunities to maintain mental and emotional health, and participate in one of the world’s largest pastimes. While video game controllers allow for very fine movement controls, holding a traditional controller and accurately pressing the trigger buttons can be challenging. A common strategy to not have to hold a controller while playing video games is to tape the controller to a flat surface in front of the gamer. The intent of this project is to allow for the top surface (where all the buttons are) of an Xbox One controller to be flush with this surface and have the trigger button inputs be translated to the same surface. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/controllers/xbox-black-wireless-controller To print, the minimum print bed size must be 8" x 8". This version is meant to have 4 rubber suction cups (https://www.mcmaster.com/53535a11) screwed into the bottom of the adapter, then placed to a playing surface in front of the gamer. Please see a different adapter on this account if you wish to countersink your adapter into the playing surface. Further assembly directions can be found in the "Assembly Manual" .pdf (this .pdf is for the flush mounting adapter but assembly instructions are the same). This prototype was printed using a 1.75 mm PLA filament at a print temperature of 210°, a bed temperature of 60°, a layer height of 0.2mm, and an infill of 50%. This controller adapter variation was developed by Ben Greenspan as a part of his dissertation studying Biomechanics and Movement Science at the University of Delaware.
