Izembek Point Base XCB-003-905. XCB-003, or IZM-003, was thoroughly tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. The site features a small village with a unique whalebone house and numerous artifacts remarkably similar to those discovered in the Bristol Bay region. This remarkable find dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts were carefully presented as a result of comprehensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, the Principal Investigator, led this groundbreaking study. The artifacts were meticulously scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Advanced processing in Geomagic or Polyworks was also conducted. A minimum of 2-8 photos were utilized for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was expertly completed at the IVL at Id. St. Univ. Subsequent processing and publication were finalized at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., presented Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's findings were further detailed in Arctic Anthro, January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, 98-111.
