XYZ 3D Hand Scanner Base

XYZ 3D Hand Scanner Base

This is a holder/base for a XYZ 3D hand Scanner. It works as a holder when the 3D scanner is not in use but also allows for vertical scanning. It can be mounted to a tripod for vertical or horizontal scanning (must supply a 1/4-20 nut). There is a very slight friction fit which allows the scanner to be lifted out of the holder with a single hand but tight enough to hold the scanner in a horizontal position on a tripod. If you will be mounting the holder to a tripod and are worried that the scanner can slip out, you can run the USB connector through the hole in bottom of the mount. This will help prevent the scanner from falling out. There is enough of a "lip" or skirt to allow a spring clamp to hold the scanner to a table or other surface. I have found the XYZ Scan software works but it is less than optimal. If you download the Intel SDK runtime for RealSense cameras, you can use other--better--scanner software. I personally like ReconstructMe:http://reconstructme.net/ I also find Sense from 3D Systems pretty easy to use.http://www.3dsystems.com/shop/realsense/sense Both programs are free for non-commercial use! Intel's SDK for RealSense can be downloaded here:https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk/download (You want the F200 Runtime/SDK) Print Settings Printer: XYZ da Vinci Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 Infill: 10% Notes: I used ABS with a heated build platform (90'C) and stick glue to hold down the print. It is a very easy print, with no overhands and a large base to hold it down to the build platform. Need a 1/4-20 nut to mount to a tripod.
