Y-axis Drag Cable Chain for Solidoodle 4

Y-axis Drag Cable Chain for Solidoodle 4

thingiverse

This is inspired by Lawsy's http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:104817 chain cable. I've used this cable chain to replace the stiff corrugated wire bundle tube that the wiring for the Y-axis of my Solidoodle 4 uses. The stock wire bundle tube was catching on the base plate on tall prints which would knock the plate enough to wreck a multi-hour print in the last 15 minutes or so. It pinches the Y-axis stepper motor using a 3mm screw. Twenty links were printed and snapped together and then the mount to the Solidoodle computer is attached to the plastic case using silicone (easy to remove). I can print without those nasty last minute surprises. :-) Instructions Designed in Fusion 360 (files included). Sliced and printed using Simplify3D on a Solidoodle 4 using .2mm and custom placed supports in Simplify3D. Depending on which printing software you use, filament type, and the temperature you print at, you may need to add supports. Mine is printed in Octave PLA.
