Y-Axis support using LM8UU bearings
thingiverse
This alternative of thingiverse.com/thing:11657 employed LM8UU linear bearings due to unavailability of recommended nylon washers. Testing various substitutes for nylon bushings, the user eventually opted for LME8UUAJ Adjustable Ball Bushings. The design was laser-cut for experimentation purposes; four holes were drilled over each bearing hole and 2mm threads were tapped to secure grub screws. A different option for bearings is Spherical Bushings (GE-08.00x16.00W300), chosen due to their noise reduction and self-aligning capabilities. Attached photos serve as references. Steps include cutting the table support, drilling grub screw holes, tapping them, and carefully aligning bearings while tightening screws for smooth rod travel.
