A 3D-printed part to mount a 30mm fan in front of the Y-Axis Motor of a tinyboy fabricator. It has a strong fit on the slanted side of the extrude head carrier. Maintained at http://github.com/fablabnbg/tinyboy mechanics/Y-Motor-Cooler.* Print Settings Printer: Tinyboy Fabricator Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20 Notes: Lay flat on the long right hand side. The snap fit sits quite strong on the 3mm acrylic wall; While the snap fit works well with PLA, I recommend to use ABS or another material that has better long term stability when exposed to heat. The first model I built from PLA warped over time and let the fan hanging downward by ca. 4mm after 1 month of frequent printing. Post-Printing Use two small 2mm screws to secure a 30x30 mm Minifan. Place the hook over the side wall of the gantry, so that the fan is perfectly vertical and directly infront of the Y-motor. How I Designed This FreeCAD 0.16 It took a while of adding and removing and padding and cutting, until it fits.
