Yaesu FT-891 RAM 1" Ball Mount

This is a Yaesu FT-891 rig mount for a RAM 1" ball. The added support under the 891 is necessary as the 891 only has one screw mount and without the added support the head unit just spins. Hardware you will need. 891 Mount - (Qty 1) M5x12 with lock washer & flat washer 891 Shelf Support - (Qty 2) #8-32 x 1.25" screws with lock washer and nut I noticed on some of the other 1" B RAM mount balls designs, the connecting cylinder to the base wasn't very beefy and others had complaints about it breaking. I added some support to the base + additional girth to the cylinder support. I also added a screw hole into the 1" ball down into the base if you want even more support for the RAM ball mount. You'll need an #8-32 1.5" screw and associated nut to secure in place. The screw will stick out from the base, so you will need to cut it off to make it flush. If you can find a 1 3/8" screw, that will work, but that size is odd. After you install the support shelf the 891 sits on, push it down towards the bottom of the mount. The fit is tight on the back of the 891 to get the mounting hole to line up. You might want to install the shelf so it's just snug, install the 891 and then tighten up the shelf bolts. I suggest printing this in PETG to survive the heat of the inside of your car. If you leave it in your car in the summer and print it with PLA, the RAM mount ball will fail.
