Here's my version of the GE Dryer Timer Knob .. It is very simular to the original part, I've obmitted a bunch of stuff as I made this to be mostly temporary while I wait for a OEM replacement part... All I want to do is dry my clothes, especially when it's raining. **Updates will be at the bottom** Also note this is my first time actually 3D Modeling *anything*, if you have any tips to make this better please let me know. Refrence part# : GE 253C1248 Dryer Model#: TBA ~~As of July 17th 2021 / 11:35pm I haven't printed this out and actually tested it, I did use a digital caliper with multiple re-measures and making sure it is Zeroed-out before each measure.. I really hope this version works well enough, I'll update it if I make any alterations after testing a print.~~ Printing: Infil: 20% Infil Style: Gyroid - I prefer this on functional parts, from research this should make the part generally stronger in all directions. My printer is a bit odd with adhesion so I use these temps and adhesion settings: Tip: ~~210c~~ Printer needs more tweaking.. July 18 2021 Bed: 70c Adhesion: Raft Bed Type: Glass Note to self: Will update description with model # of dryer. May also add a real-life image of the item printed -- only have black filiment though. **Update 1 July 18 2021** Not sure what I was thinking but I changed the square base to a circular base as so it will be more likely to fit the opening of the dryer. I'll be printing this version today. - Added Windows 10 3D Builder project file (.3mf) for easier customization... this file will also be updated if I make any changes. **Update 1.2 July 18 2021** I printed this part, other than coming out fairly nicely, the part does not work. The pin puts too much pressure on the key of the knob and has caused permanent warping of the entrance, In a second version I have thickened the plastic surrounding the hole. Although it fits snug and difficult to remove, the knob isnt able to rotate the pin, although it feels like it does. This being my first 3D print project I feel sort of bumbed out about it not working after waiting around 5hrs to print, but really impressed in actually making something myself and printing it.. it was very easy to do. **Update 2 July 19 2021** Made the key thicker to prevent the plastic from bending outwards .. this DOES work as intended, but the internal key bit thing gets absolutely crushed when turned. At the moment I'm at a meterial limitation, PLA seems to be just too soft to do this task ... I would try PETG but I don't have a way to keep it away from moisture yet. - If anyone happens to print this and it works on their dryer, or on a fairly tight potentiometer pin, please let me know what material worked well. - I also am considering using some kind of flat metal insert where the key holds onto the pin, but since my dryer is going to be properly repaired on the 22nd of July there's no point re-designing. So far this was a nice small project to learn from using Windows' 3D Builder for basic tools, I'll definatly be wanting to make more stuff this way. I'm also learning PLA's limitations this way also.
