Yosemite's Matthes Crest sticks up like a 500 foot tall, mile long cleaver. The popular traverse route (5.7) leads most of the way along the spine of the ridge making it one of the craziest most exposed traverses anywhere. I modeled it from a LIDAR dataset collected to study nitrogen export and made available on http://opentopo.sdsc.edu/.
